Ile-Ife

The spiritual cradle of the Yoruba, held to be where creation began in Yoruba tradition. Its artists cast lifelike heads in brass and terracotta of rare skill, long before European contact. The Ooni of Ife remains a foremost custodian of Yoruba heritage.
